¡Buen Camino! Spanish for pilgrims and hospitaleros

By Anita Martinez-Almeida. Whether you walk to Santiago or do your pilgrimage by bike or whether you are volunteering for a few weeks in an albergue, some basic knowledge of the pilgrim terminology will certainly be helpful to you.  In this language guide attention is paid to 15 different themes, such as registering in an albergue, ordering a meal in a restaurant, asking for directions, having your bike repaired or accompanying a sick pilgrim to a doctor.

Anita is Dutch and studied Spanish and taught the language to pilgrims and hospitaleros in the Netherlands.  She is married to Gabriel, a Spanish artist.  In September 2018 they opened their albergue Luz de Frómista in this beautiful village on the meseta near the Canal de Castilla (www.albergueluzdefromista.com)
