We are delighted to be hosting an online music recital as a fundraiser for the CSJ.

Playing for us will be award-winning classical guitarist, Morgan Szymanski.  A native of Mexico, he studied there as well as in Edinburgh and London at the Royal College of Music, collecting a number of prizes and scholarships along the way, including first prize at the National Guitar Competition in Mexico. He has performed as a soloist in a huge number of countries, including several major music venues and festivals in the UK, such as the Royal Opera House, appearing with such orchestras as the Royal Philharmonic, Hallé, the Royal Northern Sinfornia and many more.  You can read more about him at his website here.

Morgan will be joining us from his home in the beautiful Mexican countryside.

We will hear a mixture of classical pieces, each with a link to Camino routes in Spain, as well as the major pilgrimages in his home country, including pieces by Manuel M. Ponce, Fernando Sor and Miguel Llobet.

At the same time, we will hear from Dr Ivan Moseley, who will be giving an accompanying presentation on two extremely important Hispanic pilgrim routes, but which are perhaps not as well known, despite attracting millions of pilgrims every year:

1. The pilgrimage to the Basilica of La Virgen de Guadalupe in Mexico City, and

2. The pilgrimage to Zapopan in the region of Jalisco.

This event is also a sneak peak of what to expect at our very special St James’s Eve concert on the 24th July, which we very much hope to happen in person at St James Church Piccadilly, London, where Morgan will be playing for us again with a brilliant programme of Camino music.
