This week the CSJ Rabanal Committee took the painful decision to remain closed for the duration of the 2021 season.

This was believed to be in the best interest of the volunteers and hospitaleros, given the lack of clarity on travel from the UK and elsewhere.

The incredible generosity from sponsors and donors means that things will be made much easier once we can re-open, but for now there are still too many unknowns.

We are so sad to be closed for a second year, especially during a Holy Year.  This year marks the 30th anniversary of Refugio Gaucelmo. And we will ensure we organise some appropriate celebrations and remember the amazing history of this beloved place.

The situation at our albergue at Miraz on the Camino del Norte continues to be monitored. A decision has yet to be reached.
