Advice about Coronavirus/Covid-19: We are getting a lot of questions about whether the camino is open and asking for advice about the precautions pilgrims should take. Yes, the camino is open, and hotels and hostels are being very mindful of their hygiene practices. Along with following government travel advisories, we recommend the following:
Get good travel insurance before you go. If booking in advance, use sites like booking.com to find places with very flexible cancellation policies.
Take great care with personal hygiene – carry tissues and handwash which you can replenish from the ubiquitous pharmacies along the route.
Remember that the emergency number in Spain is 112 (no area code needed). The responder will speak a number of languages.
These are good practices for all pilgrims no matter when they walk. Always be mindful and responsible. Buen Camino!
