Our work Events St James Day Sponsored Walk - Winchester Join us on St James' Day (Saturday 25th July 2026) for a Sponsored Walk in Winchester The CSJ is fundraising for a bench at the Hospital of St Cross in Winchester as a place for pilgrims to rest and reflect along the Camino Inglés after receiving the Wayfarer’s Dole. If you can't join us, we invite you to make a donation to help support pilgrims on the Way The walk covers roughly 6-1/2 miles and begins at Winchester Cathedral at 10:30am. 10.30 - Meet at Winchester Cathedral. 11.00 - proceed via St Lawrence church to St Bartholomew’s church. 11.30 - visit St Bartholomew’s, including site of SJW mouteira. 12.00 - proceed back to city centre via Hyde Abbey and gardens. 13.00 - lunch break - individuals to make their own arrangements. 14.00 - regroup in gardens near to King Alfred monument. Then proceed through the water meadows to St Cross Hospital 15.00 - visit St Cross Hospital to see site where the new bench will be located. 15.30 - return to Winchester centre or make the way home from St Cross (time approximate) It is suggested walkers either bring a picnic lunch or enjoy a meal in Winchester after the walk.
