Special Funds

The CSJ have a few ongoing funds which are restricted for particular purposes. Rather than donate to the General Fund, you can dedicate your contribution to one of these specific projects.

courtyard of pilgrims at rabanal

Rabanal Fund

For our pilgrim hostel on the Camino Francés, Refugio Gaucelmo.  The refuge was built from the shell of a much older building, so there is regular maintenance work to be done. From structural repair to utilities to training events to administrative fees, there are always bills to pay.  The hospitaleros and working party are reliant on donations to continue being able to welcome and look after pilgrims in Rabanal. For our second refuge, Albergue San Martín.  Located in a very remote corner of Galicia, the Miraz team rely on local services, who often have to travel from far away, to fix any problems that might arise. On this stretch of the Camino del Norte, the pilgrim foot fall is few and far between. So whether it's paying bills, restocking on supplies for the kitchen, washrooms and dormitories or an emergency boiler replacement, donations are so important for them. St Christopher FundA wonderful fund set up to assist pilgrims who are less able physically, mentally or financially to make their caminos.  In the past this has gone towards paying for companions for elderly or frail pilgrims who would have no help otherwise.  And more recently, some of this fund has gone towards a charity group who take young people on the camino as a means of teaching core values such as teamwork, respect and self-worth. Read more about them here.  Click here for the St Christopher fundraising page
