THE MARION MARPLES MEMORIAL WALK this year is being hosted by Marilyn on Friday 26th July.

We will be walking a part of the Lea Valley riverside walk from Cheshunt to Rye House - a distance of approximate 6 miles, along the River Lea.  At Rye House, an optional extra is to finish the walk in the beautiful Rye Meads Nature Reserve which is a haven for bird enthusiasts and walkers alike. For your info, I am using The Lea Valley Walk by Leigh Hatts (Marion's husband) published by Cicerone - it's one of my favourite walks too.  As to the weather - well that is an unknown!

We start at Liverpool Street Station - specific times to be publicised in plenty of time for you to plan your journey.

Lunch at The Crown, Broxbourne, 3 miles further on in a beautiful old riverside pub.

Having visited the grade 1 listed St. Augustine Church at Broxbourne (which unfortunately might not be open), we follow the River Lea to Rye House where an old pub serves refreshments for tea.

Tickets:  get an off-peak day return to Ware (with concessions if applicable) as the price is the same whichever station we return from along that line.

We hope to see lots of CSJ members for Marion's Walk on what is a beautiful part of the Lea Valley!
