The CSJ are urgently seeking a new treasurer!

Our wonderful trustee and treasurer Helen, who many of you will know, is sadly stepping down from her role as treasurer to fully focus on her full-time job and commitments in Madrid. (She will continue to be involved with the CSJ as a trustee so it's not a full farewell!). We are therefore seeking a skilled treasurer to follow in her footsteps overseeing our budgets, accounts and financial records.

This voluntary role would ideally suit a retired or semi-retired professional who has sufficient time to supervise the accounting activities of the CSJ and through his/her professional experience contribute to the development of the organisation.

The ideal candidate would be able to attend bimonthly trustees meetings (3-hour duration) in person, as well as ad hoc meetings with the CSJ team, so would be based within a reasonable distance of the Blackfriars office (or willing to travel in!).

The candidate would be working closely with the CSJ support team, which consists of a voluntary bookkeeper, the CSJ General Manager, the Membership Secretary and the CSJ Trustees.

Person requirements

Proven experience as a Treasurer, Financial Officer or related role
In-depth knowledge of financial, accounting and tax regulations, legislation and best practices
Good maths skills and the ability to work with financial data and analytics
High degree of accuracy/attention to detail
Experience with MS Office and Quickbooks accountancy software package
Proficiency in English

Considerations

The role would require approximately 3 hours per week, decreasing to 2 hours once you are fully trained
You would be mostly home-based, but able to attend some meetings in person in London (bimonthly trustees meetings as well as occasional team meetings)
You would be overseeing the CSJ's finances and budgets with the help of the bookkeeper
You would be responsible for reviewing the charity’s annual accounts and ensuring compliance with best practice
You would receive an appropriate handover from the bookkeeper and outgoing treasurer

Please note that this role is pro bono/voluntary.
