St James Day Walk on Sunday 4th August

Join us for a walk in and around Audlem. We need to meet in Cheshire Street Car Park, Cheshire Street, Audlem CW 3 0AH  at 9.30am, setting off at 9.45am, ready to be met at 10am in the nearby St James Church. The car park is free.

Sadly, although the church has a long history and is very imposing and good-looking from the inside, there does not actually seem to be any recognition of St James inside despite the church being dedicated to him.

After a tour of the church we will continue on a circular walk, stopping for lunch at a pub after about two hours, and then continuing for about a further hour and a half, when we again arrive at a pub for a drink before going home. There are toilets at the start and at the lunch pub. There is ample room for eating our lunch outside the pub, and the beer is good!

The walk is virtually flat, covering a total distance of about 12 kilometres, or 8 miles. Some of the walk is on dry paths, some on unmade footpaths across grassy fields, and a small amount on quiet narrow lanes. This is not very long in distance  but it is a walk for stopping and admiring the views, the imposing church, some fab old buildings in Audlem, the beautiful Cheshire countryside with all sorts of farm animals, rivers and the busy Shropshire canal, and an excellent pub at the end!

Please contact Ned Spencer to be put in touch with the walk leader if you would like to join us for the walk. If you are coming from out of the area, transportation from the Crewe train station can be arranged.

Manchester Practical Pilgrim Day on 12 October 2024

We are delighted to offer our regular Manchester Practical Pilgrim day this October. We particularly welcome those who have not previously made a Camino, but who would like to learn more about the practicalities from returned pilgrims, and find answers to any specific issues you may have.

The day will be led by group members from their own experiences. While we will include presentations relating to various practical aspects of Camino, there will be plenty of opportunity to share together and learn from each other more informally, both in small groups and all together.

The day also offers the opportunity for experienced pilgrims to share their memories with like minded people, and to prepare for their own future caminos.
